The Operating Engineers Apprenticeship Program is very competitive. We receive hundreds of applications and accept a limited number of entry-level apprentices depending upon the job market.

THIS IS NOT AN OVERNIGHT PROCESS- it takes time

Interviews are usually held only twice a year. We know you are eager to attend training and begin a career in the Operating Engineers- please be patient, you will be notified by mail!

You must print a copy of the application and the information documents off this website and return the completed application and copies of documents required to the address indicated postmarked by:

The Application Process:

Return your original application form along with the documents listed below. (It is important to return the application and all required documents together!)

Note: Documents submitted will not be returned, therefore, send copies of important documents.

  1. Copy of your Birth Certificate, Copy of front and back of valid Washington State Driver's License and copy of your Social Security card.
  2. Copy of Diplomas (High School, College, Vocational, GED, etc.) An applicant may apply for a waiver if neither document is available. Call the training office to inquire about this.
  3. Resume: (Include Personal and Work History) Personal History: Personal accomplishments obtained in high school, college, hobbies etc.
  4. Work History: Note employers, length of employment, job responsibilities, and reason for termination. Add any other information you feel would be beneficial. (NOTE: Be specific on maintenance background and equipment operation. Please include type of work, number of months/hours, etc).

Note: Younger applicants should include part-time and summer employment while attending school.

  1. Letters of recommendation: A minimum of one and no more than three (preferably from previous employers).

Note: Applicants who submit letters of recommendation from signatory employers with the intent to hire, may be granted up to ten (10) bonus points.

  1. Veterans: Include military records (DD214) if applicable.
  2. Include any additional material you feel is important.

Candidates with incomplete applications will

not be granted an interview!
